Rep level softball give players the opportunity to play in an environment that demands commitment to skill development and a desire to be competitive at a higher level than that offered in house league. The Cobourg Jr. Angels plan to field teams in 2010 at Squirt, Novice, Bantam and Junior levels. Rep team players and coaches become carded members of the Provincial Women’s Softball Association. These teams play against teams within the North York Women’s Softball League with playoffs occurring in August. Rep teams are also eligible and encouraged to play in P.W.S.A. tournaments against teams from all over Ontario.

Rep softball is designed to give talented ball players the opportunity to improve their skills against top level competition. Practices are an important part of this process and Rep teams practice up to two times per week in addition to their regularly scheduled games. As well as the time commitment involved in practices, games and tournaments, an additional financial obligation is also part of Rep softball. This extra money is necessary to support the cost of equipment, team uniforms, umpire fees, diamond rental and tournament entry fees to name a few. This extra cost should not be a deterrent to those interested in playing Rep softball. In previous years, players, coaches, parents and other community members have raised funds through corporate sponsorships, donations and fundraising efforts so that the cost to the player has been kept to a minimum.
